It is with a heavy heart that I share the sad news of Shawn Thomas's passing. Shawn was a long-standing member of LAMSL and a friend to both my father and me.

Shawn's loss is especially hard. He participated in many of our seasons and tournaments, always bringing joy and fun to his teams. He never hesitated to help out whenever we needed assistance. I also deeply appreciated the respect he always showed my father, especially making it a point to speak with him in Spanish.

I am still in disbelief but want to assure everyone that Shawn will always be remembered in our league as one of its brightest and best players. He will truly be missed.

My sincere condolences go out to Tawnee and his children, Karter, Krue, and Journee. As always, let's come together as a LAMSL family and help in any way we can to assist them during this difficult time. Go Fund Me.

IMORTANT POLICY TO MANAGERS FOR VOTE:  

LAMSL would like to implement the following rule and would like each manager to text LAMSL President when he reaches out to you with a Yes or No. 

There will be no judgement regardless of what your team decides to vote.  Throughout the history of LAMSL, we have had players and immediate family members of players pass away, most of the time unexpectedly.  As a league of over 350 members, I have always felt that during such times we could come together and help our fellow LAMSL members.  Unfortunately that is not always the case and often we try to organize tournaments with little to no particiaption.  (We have had some succesful ones but very few).  During a time where our fellow members could use the financial assistance, it becomes a challenge to collect a significant amount.  This adds to the difficult challenges our members are already going through. 

With that said, I am proposing the following:  Anytime we have an active LAMSL player, manager or participant, (i.e. official score keeper) or immediate family member, father, mother, brother, sister,  the league will implement an additional $40 dollars to be collected for one game day.  A total of $150 will be collected which divided amongst most rosters would be approximately $11 per player or $3 additional dollars from what you would be originally collecting for game day fees. This amount would be a significant assistance to our players who are dealing with their loss. In addition, LAMSL will also add an additional $300 from that game day.  In the past we have attempted similar plans but unfortunately we had inconsitancy and abuse from some members.  This collection will be for deceased active LAMSL players and immediate family members only. I will be texting each manager and will wait for your vote.
